Ohio – 2019 Justice for All Fellowship – Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation

AkronLawJobs No. 9491 Overview: The Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation (The Foundation) will award two-year Justice for All Fellowships to outstanding recent law school graduates with a passion for public service. The Foundation supports fellowship projects which address unmet civil legal needs facing low-income individuals and families in Ohio. Each fellow must work together with an Ohio host organization to develop a proposed project.

Fellows will receive a competitive salary, benefits, and up to $6,000 in annual educational loan repayment assistance.

Qualifications: You must be a third-year law student or a recent law school graduate who demonstrates a commitment to public interest law. You must be eligible and agree to take the Ohio bar examination in the summer of 2019; OR, be admitted to practice law in Ohio; OR, be licensed in another state and eligible for temporary admission before taking the Ohio bar examination. You must identify an Ohio organization to serve as your host organization and full-time employer during the fellowship term. Together with your host organization, you will propose a project that will allow you to use your legal skills to address civil legal needs faced by low-income individuals and families throughout Ohio.

Douglas, WY – Judicial Law Clerk – Spring 2019 – District Court of the Eighth Judicial District

AkronLawJobs No. 9489 Overview: The Eighth Judicial District is currently accepting applications for a law clerk position. This clerkship is an excellent opportunity for recent law school graduates to gain both trial and appellate experience. The Eighth Judicial District Court is a trial court of general jurisdiction. The law clerk will gain trial experience working on a wide variety of cases and subject matters including felony criminal cases, family law, civil cases exceeding $50,000 in controversy, juvenile proceedings, probates, and appeals. The District Court also serves as the court of appeals for lower courts and administrative agencies in Wyoming.

Duties may include: Attending hearings and trials with the judge, taking notes, and discussing cases in chambers; Conducting legal research; Drafting and editing bench memoranda, orders, and decision letters; Preparing jury instructions; Keeping up to date on developments in the law and apprising the judge of important developments; and Assisting with office management.

Qualifications: 3L graduating in December 2018. Anticipated start date is March 1, 2019. Expected to commit for approximately two years and the position is at-will. Admittance to the Wyoming State Bar is required within one year of hire.

Benefits: The clerkship provides State employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement, and vacation and sick leave.

Within your cover letter, applicants should discuss any judicial internships or clerkships previously held, as well as participation in law school clinics or other experiential opportunities that would be relevant to serving a law clerkship. Candidates should also discuss their interest in serving a judicial clerkship and their post-clerkship career interests. Any connections to Wyoming and the communities within the Eighth Judicial District should be mentioned in the cover letter but are not necessary.
