The Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards is offering a unique leadership opportunity for interested graduate/professional-level students to serve on the University Hearing Board.
The University Hearing Board is utilized when a student has been charged with a violation of the Code of Student Conduct at the University of Akron and the student does not feel that the charge(s) is/are warranted, or chooses not to accept responsibility for the alleged behavior(s). In these cases, the University Hearing Board is activated in order to reach a resolution.
- The University Hearing Board is comprised of five members; including faculty, staff and students and it is convened to:
- Provide all parties an opportunity to share what happened from their perspectives,
- Develop questions for students and witnesses involved to understand the incident and fact pattern,
- Deliberate to determine outcome of case, once all information has been heard.
This leadership opportunity is an outstanding addition to your academic curriculum and resume by strengthening the skills you possess in listening, problem solving, questioning/interviewing others, and the critical analysis of information.
