Akron-Canton Barristers Judicial Externship Program – spring application now open!
The Akron-Canton Barristers, in partnership with the University of Akron School of Law, is excited to announce the Akron-Canton Barristers Judicial Externship Program (“Program”) will continue for the spring semester. The Program is a diversity initiative that provides qualified minority students attending the University of Akron School of Law the opportunity to work as legal externs (for course credit) with select judges and magistrate judges in the Northern District of Ohio (placements for fall include Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown). To be eligible, you must have completed 29 credit hours, be in good academic standing, and be a minority law student.
To apply, students must complete the application form (available upon request from Career Services) and return the application form, along with a resume, to Assistant Dean Alisa Benedict O’Brien: ab139@uakron.edu no later than Friday, November 19, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by the Akron-Canton Barristers Externship Program Committee and students will be notified about interviews and placements by early December. If selected, students will need to register for the Externship course for spring. Please contact Dean O’Brien with any questions.
Please share with your student organizations and networks. We will post weekly on the Akron Law announcements and in the Career Connection as well.
