The Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Scholar Program of the Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law (FADIPL), as well as the financial assistance and other benefits currently available to awardees interested in a patent law career. FADIPL will be making at least 12 additional Scholar recognitions for the 2022 1L class. This financial and other support is available to selected STEM-educated individuals who identify as members of racial or ethnic groups that are underrepresented in the patent law profession and who are admitted (or seeking admission) to an ABA-accredited law school. Benefits include: A tuition grant award of up to $5,000, as reimbursement for any costs associated with the law school application process. Consideration for $30,000 law school tuition grant awards. These awards are payable over the selected awardee’s 1L-3L years. Connection to an experienced IP professional as a mentor, access to 1L/2L summer patent clerkship opportunities, networking opportunities within the organized IP bar, and no-cost participation in the Practicing Law Institute’s Patent Bar Review Course. For any eligible candidates seeking admission to law school in 2022, applications for the Scholar Program must be completed before April 30, 2022.
