Overview:
The Kanoski Bresney Stand Up to Distracted Driving Scholarship supports students who are passionate about raising awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. This scholarship offers five awards of $1,000 each to students who share their personal stories and creative ideas for promoting safer driving habits.
Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must meet one of the following:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited U.S. college or university (continuing through at least Fall 2025), or
- A high school senior who will begin college in Spring or Fall 2025
Requirements:
- A 1,000-word essay responding to the prompt: How has distracted driving affected your life? What ideas do you have to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving and prevent this behavior among young drivers?
- Essay must be double-spaced, in 12-point font, with one-inch margins, and submitted as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file
- Academic transcript
- Professional photograph
- Contact information including full name, phone number, mailing address, and email address

- Originality and impact of the ideas presented
- Organization, clarity, and writing quality
- Fulfillment of all eligibility and submission requirements
