The Behan Law Group Military Veteran Scholarship supports U.S. military Veterans and their children in pursuing higher education. Founded by U.S. Navy Veteran Michelle Behan, this scholarship reflects the firm’s commitment to honoring military service and aiding those who have served or are serving in the U.S. military, as well as their families.
Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. military Veteran, current service member, or the child of a Veteran or current service member
- Must be currently enrolled in, or accepted to, an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited U.S. college or university
- Education must continue at least through the Spring 2026 semester
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Requirements:
- A 500–1,000 word essay addressing:
- How your experience as a Veteran or the child of a Veteran has influenced your academic and career goals
- How you plan to use your education to positively impact your community
- Most recent academic transcript
- Proof of military service for yourself or your parent
- Professional headshot
- Contact information including name, address, phone number, and email address
Selection Criteria:
- Thoughtfulness, self-reflection, and originality
- Writing quality, including spelling, grammar, organization, and clarity
- Adherence to application instructions and criteria
Winners will be selected and notified no later than January 5, 2026. The scholarship funds will be coordinated with the financial aid department of the recipient’s chosen institution. Recipients must consent to the use of their name, likeness, and essay for The Behan Law Group’s marketing and promotional purposes.
