IPTLA President Jessica Fross will be introducing the dinner panelists at the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association [CIPLA] meeting TODAY. This will be CIPLA’s last meeting of the academic year, so your attendance is strongly encouraged.
The meeting will begin with two CLE presentations at 4:30 pm. Students unable to make it to the CLEs are invited to arrive later and join us for the open bar during Cocktail Hour from 5:30-6:00 pm. At 6:00 pm there will be a three course plated dinner and a panel of guest speakers including:
• Peter Albert of Progressive Insurance
• Juliet Castrovinci of Nestle USA
• Daniel Kalka of Eaton Corporation
• Christine Przybysz of The Timken Company
This is an excellent networking opportunity! For students interested in Patent, Trademark, or Copyright Law, attending these events may set your resumes apart and give your degrees more weight in comparison to less involved students from other institutions
Topics that will be addressed at the meeting include: the “Left Shark” from Katy Perry’s Superbowl performance, the “Monkey Selfie,” the Eleventh Circuit decision on fair use in the case of Cambridge University Press v. Becker (concerning Georgia State University scanning materials to their library e-reserves system), and the evolution of copyright issues in the European Union.
It is not necessary for students to register for this event, and they do not need to become CIPLA members to attend. Students can simply appear, and bring a $15 attendance fee in the form of cash, or a check.
Address: Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center, 127 Public Square, Cleveland OH 44114
