Akron Law Legal Writing Fellows Program for 2015-16 Academic Year

Good at legal research, writing, and citation? Interested in improving your own skills while teaching and mentoring 1Ls? Looking for a way to distinguish yourself to potential employers?
The Legal Writing Program seeks to hire 5-6 Legal Writing Fellows for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Legal Writing Fellows will support the legal writing faculty in two ways. First, each Fellow will serve as a Westlaw, Lexis, or Writing & Citation specialist. With guidance from the LARW faculty, Fellows will lead class discussions and workshops on their areas of specialty, review exercises completed by the 1Ls, and answer questions the 1Ls have on these topics. Each Fellow will also be assigned to work with a specific LARW section. The Fellow will become familiar with that section’s writing assignment and assist students in that section.
Legal Writing Fellows must be able to commit an average of 5-7 hours per week. This may fluctuate over the semester, but will never be more than 10 hours per week. Fellows will be compensated $10/hour. Fellows must also be available for training during Orientation week and will be compensated for that time. Please review the Fall 2015 schedule to see whether you generally are available during times when LARW courses are scheduled.
Those interested in applying should email a current resume, your GPA, and your LARW grades to Prof. Shaver (eas68@uakron.edu) by July 20, 2015. Interviews will be conducted the week of July 27, and both day and evening times will be available. If you have a preference for specialty (Westlaw, Lexis, or Writing & Citation), please indicate that in your email. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Prof. Shaver, Prof. Strong, Prof. Morath, or Prof. McBurney.
