AkronLawJobs No. 7986 Overview: EPA Region III encompasses the Mid-Atlantic States and is based in Philadelphia, PA.  This is a non-salaried and competitive process.  Previous experience or demonstrated interest in public service or environmental law is helpful but not required.

Duties: Complex research projects and the drafting of legal documents under the supervision of staff attorneys in the Office of Regional Counsel, accompany staff attorneys to client meetings, negotiating sessions, trials, hearings, and depositions. Weekly seminars will be provided concerning various topics related to the EPA’s environmental law practice. Assignments will be in one of several branches including Air, Water, Toxics, RCRA, and CERCLA.EPA Attorneys are involved in nearly all aspects of the Agency’s mission, including administrative, civil, and criminal enforcement of environmental laws: drafting and interpreting EPA regulations, policy and guidance; oversight of state environmental agencies; and counseling on government contracts and grants, bankruptcy, employment, corporations, and real property.

Hours:  Expected to work 40 hours per week for ten weeks between May 23, 2017 and July 28, 2017.  The Region III office also has full and part-time volunteer law positions available during the academic year.  Deadline for Fall clerkship is June 15 and December 15 for Spring clerkship.
