Please join Judge Ryan Holte and his externs for information session regarding Akron’s new Washington, D.C. Externship Program. This program offers students interested in Intellectual Property law the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a legal capacity for government, public interest organizations, judges, or other related entities. Students will develop substantive legal skills under the direction of licensed attorneys while completing coursework, networking, and experiencing the legal and cultural environment of our nation’s capital.
- The D.C. Externship is 6 credits and requires 255 hours of legal work at the field placement.
- Students must have completed at least 29 credit hours and be in good standing to enroll.
- The accompanying Externship course will be taught by Judge Ryan Holte.
- Professor Schultz, Judge Holte, and Dean O’Brien will assist with placements. Students are also permitted to secure their own placements.
- Externship students will be able to enroll in online courses to remain full-time for the spring semester. Financial Aid is available to students who qualify. Contact Cora Moretta for more information: 330-972-5374 or moretta@uakron.edu.
- Students will be responsible for travel and housing.
Interested students should email Dean O’Brien (ab139@uakron.edu), indicate if you have an interest in patent law or copyrights and trademarks, and submit a current resume no later than October 15, 2020.
