CPPO Announces Mock Interview Program
MOCK INTERVIEWS – The Career Planning and Placement Office (“CPPO”) is pleased to announce that a number of local attorneys will be available off campus at their offices to conduct mock interviews with our law students. Each mock interview will last approximately ½ hour and will generally consist of a 15-20 minute interview and a 10-15 minute feedback session. The most up to date list of dates and times is available is below. We encourage ALL law students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to enhance their interviewing skills and network with local, practicing attorneys. As with any skill, practice and feedback are crucial to perfecting! PARTICIPATION IN THE MOCK INTERVIEW PROGRAM IS STRONGLY ADVISED FOR STUDENTS PLANNING TO PARTAKE IN FALL ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS.
If you would like to sign up for a mock interview, please call the CPPO (330-972-5321) or email Maureen Davis: mdavis1@uakron.edu to choose the time slot that works best for you. When you sign up for your mock interview, you must e-mail your resume to Maureen Davis (mdavis1@uakron.edu) in the CPPO so that we may provide it in advance to the attorney who will be performing your mock interview.

Lawyers are extremely busy people. Thus, as with a real job interview, please take this experience seriously. That is, arrive on time to your mock interview, dress appropriately for an interview, and be prepared.
Preparation includes bringing copies of your resume, having questions to ask the interviewer, and knowing a bit about the attorney and his/her firm or organization. If you have any questions, please contact the CPPO.

LEGAL CLINIC ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR PAID POSITION
The University of Akron School of Law Legal Clinic is accepting applications for one paid position with the Inmate Assistance Program. This position will begin as soon as possible and last until May, 2016, and possibly until May 2018. The paid position will be as a Director of our Inmate Assistance Program. All students are invited to apply. Persons chosen for these positions will be paid $8.50 per hour up to 20 hours per week.
People interested in developing interviewing, research, and writing skills should apply. Our Clinic graduates use their skills in civil and criminal contexts as Public Defenders, County Prosecutors, Legal Aid lawyers, judicial law clerks, and civil practitioners.
A cover letter and resume must be submitted to Paul Zindle at pez2@uakron.edu as soon as possible. We will be conducting interviews as applications are received and anticipate making a decision quickly, so please apply immediately if you wish us to consider your application. 2nd Year Law Students will be able to access OSCAR on July 1
OSCAR is the system used to apply for post-graduate, Federal Judicial Clerkships. Please note that 2nd year students will have full system access beginning July 1: https://oscar.uscourts.gov. Full system access means that students can register for an account, upload documents, identify recommenders, search for positions, and submit/finalize applications beginning on July 1, 2016 without any restrictions.

Please be sure to log on to Symplicity for a current list of those firms coming to campus this fall to interview students (under OCI tab on Symplicity). You must make sure your class year is correct and that you select “Fall 2016” as the session to see the list of current employers.
