Mock Interview Program – sign up today!

MOCK INTERVIEWS – The Career Planning and Placement Office (“CPPO”) is pleased to announce that a number of local attorneys will be available here at The University of Akron School of Law AND off campus at their offices to conduct mock interviews with our law students. Each mock interview will last approximately ½hour and will generally consist of a 15-20 minute interview and a 10-15 minute feedback session. The most up to date list of dates and times available is below. We encourage ALL law students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to enhance their interviewing skills and network with local, practicing attorneys. As with any skill, practice and feedback are crucial to perfecting! If you would like to sign up for a mock interview, please stop by or call the CPPO (330-972-5321) to choose the time slot that works best for you. When you sign up for your mock interview, you must e-mail your resume to Alisa Benedict O’Brien (ab139@uakron.edu) in the CPPO so that we may provide it in advance to the attorney who will be performing your mock interview.

Akron Law Alumni Association Student Director Position – applications due by Friday, August 14th!

The Akron Law Alumni Association (“LAA”) Board of Directors has a dedicated position on its Board for a student director.  This unique and valuable opportunity provides the student director a chance to become involved in alumni leadership and activities with Akron Law.  The student director represents Akron Law students to the LAA Board and works with the Board to identify ways in which students and alumni may work and communicate together for the benefit of both groups.

The student director serves in an ex-officio capacity and is expected to attend all Board meetings which are held at the School of Law on a bi-monthly basis throughout the academic year (i.e., August, October, December, February, and April).  The Board meetings begin at 4:30 p.m. and generally last for one and a half hours.

The student director is also expected to assist with the class gift campaign.

Applications for the 2015-16 student director to the LAA Board of Directors will be accepted from 2015-16 upper division law students who are in good standing.  Applications should include a current statement as to why he or she wants to serve on the LAA Board  and why the student believes that he or she should be selected for the position.

The LAA Board’s executive committee will review the application materials and a select students who will be invited to interview at the August 24, 2015 LAA Board meeting.  Students interested in being considered for this position should e-mail their application materials to Lia Evans at LiaEvans@uakron.edu.
