“How to Hang Out Your Shingle”: The Business of Practice

This program is being presented by Christopher White, 2011 University of Akron, School of Law alumni and Managing Partner for White Law Office, Co. (thewhitelawoffice.com). The first milestone of your legal career is designing a practice that generates value, giving back to you more than it takes. This program will (1) cover practical steps for setting up and administering a solo or small firm, and (2) explore some of the most common pitfalls solo and small firm owners and practitioners encounter. Whether you are going to go solo or build a firm, it is no longer enough to be a legal practitioner, you must also be an entrepreneur.

Research & Writing Position Spring Semester, 2020

Volunteer Research Assistants/Writers (RA/W) are needed for annual supplement to Ohio’s only legal treatise on tort law.  This is an excellent opportunity develop knowledge, skills and expertise. The project will run from the end of January through the beginning of June, and the positions will be part-time (on average, about 5-6 hours/week or less).   These are “remote”, “virtual” or “work from home” positions and students from across the state are encouraged to apply, regardless of location.  May satisfy pro-bono requirements.
