Copley High School seeks volunteer judges – earn general community service hours

The Copley High School Speech and Debate team is looking for volunteer judges. Our schedule for the year is posted in this email. If anyone is interested in judging, please contact head coach Shannon Rote at Shannon.Rote@Copley-Fairlawn.org

Judges will listen to students debate on Saturdays. The tournaments start around 8:30 and last until about noon. Individuals will need to bring something to keep track of time in the rounds, paper or legal pad to flow the debate, and something to write with. No experience is needed, we will train you before you judge your first round.

For law students who are curious about what it’s like to work for a corporation, please join us for a panel discussion hosted by NEOACC. With more than 35,000 members employed by over 10,000 organizations in more than 85 countries, the Association of Corporate Counsel is the world’s largest community of in-house counsel.

The program will begin with a brief overview of the in-house counsel world, after which panel members will provide their perspectives of in-house counsel life. An interactive question and answer period will follow. Feel free to submit questions in advance or at the presentation.

Volunteer coaches needed for Adaptive Basketball Program

Volunteers needed for an adaptive basketball program for adults with developmental delays. The group meets Sunday afternoons, 12:30-1:30, usually at Orange High School but sometimes at one of the local colleges. Professor Huhn seeks volunteer coaches – that would be great! Deadline to apply to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor is Friday at 3:00 PM!

Representatives from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office will be on campus to interview selected students on Friday, October 24th.

Classes: 2L, 3L (for internships and post-graduate opportunities)

Preferred Criteria: Moot Court/ Mock Trial
