Volunteer Opportunity – Community Service Limited Means – Tuesday, May 8th

PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT (PHC):   Tuesday, MAY 8, 2012

° Can you volunteer for this remarkable one-day, one-stop event designed to provide access to housing, services, and hospitality for people experiencing homelessness, loss of income, or financial difficulty?  

° The primary need is for “Chaperones” to escort guests throughout the Chapel as they receive their selected services.

° Hosted by the Akron/Summit County Continuum of Care for the Homeless, PHC will take place at The Chapel’s Akron Campus.

 

Training dates/times for NEW volunteers of PHC 2012 are:

  • Thurs, April 19th 6-7:30pm
  • Tues., April 24th 6-7:30pm
  • Wed., May 2nd 3-4:30pm 

 

Volunteer Shifts for Event Day:  May 8, 2012 (Choose one or more!)

  • All Day 8am-5pm
  • 8am-11am * This is the time when the most volunteers are urgently needed
  • 10:30am-1:30pm
  • 1pm-5pm

Community Service Opportunity – Valor Home

Serve the Community, Gain New Skills, and Support Your Student Organization

The “Valor Home,” is the first transitional home for veterans and their dependents in Summit County, Ohio.  The $1.5 million, 30-bed facility is a project of Family & Community Services of Portage County, which also operates Freedom House, a shelter for veterans in Kent.  Habitat for Humanity of Summit County offered to recruit volunteers to build interior and exterior walls for Valor Home.  We need your leadership, strength and energy to serve veterans in Summit County!

March we will be building the walls, 20 to 25 volunteers a day at 2301 Romig Road, Akron, OH 44320

April we will be installing the walls, 50 to 75 volunteers a day onsite.

Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday      Time: 8:30-4:30

Volunteers should bring a lunch if planning to stay all day. All the tools and materials necessary for the project will be provided.

Volunteers March 10-March 18th will be entered in a drawing to win one of three IPOD Shuffles.

Support your law student organizations: The law student organization with the most volunteer hours in March will receive $300 to use as they wish. The student organization with the most volunteer hours in April will receive $300 to use as they wish.

    1. Provide your name, date or dates you wish to volunteer, also if you want the credit to go towards student organization let me know which one.
