Congratulations to the University of Akron School of Law Trial Teams!

Trial team members Dan Bray, Daniel Leister, Anthony Wise and Michelle McBee won the AAJ regional tournament in Delaware this weekend. The team will compete at the AAJ national championship held in Las Vegas on March 24, 2012.

The final round of the AAJ competition featured two Akron teams. The other Akron team advancing to the final round consisted of trial team members Kelsey DiFrancesco, Greg Thompson, Laci Mason, and Joseph Martinez.

Both teams achieved perfect records before advancing to the final round. The teams defeated Yale and Cincinnati in the semifinal rounds.

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland – Open Registration for Clinics – Pro Bono Limited Means Opportunities

We are all ready to start our clinics again and we need lots of law students!  We will be trying out a different form of registration.  I have attached a link to our website where you will complete information for online registration.  Once you submit that, we will confirm your attendance at the clinic with a follow up email in the coming weeks (or earlier if need be).  I have tried to list all of the clinics from Jan-March, and ask that you each only sign up for one of these clinics.  There is a clinic this Saturday, January 28th and we need about 10 law student volunteers.

Although the website allows you to sign up for more, you will not be confirmed for more than one.  You will also notice something called the “Brown Bag lunch” this is for attorneys with foreclosure cases and not open to students.  If we need more volunteers for any one date I will send out a follow up email.  Thank you all for your continued support of Legal Aid and I look forward to seeing you at the clinics!

The Saturday clinics begin at 9:45 am and we ask students to arrive at 9:30, as always we will have coffee and pastries.  The evening immigration clinic on 2/22 begins at 5 pm and we ask students to be here at 4:45, we will also have snacks at this clinic.

Here is the link to the page you will need to read for registration:
