Pro Bono Limited Means opportunity to volunteer!

The law school clinic is offering an opportunity to assist clients who face eviction or have other housing issues. Volunteers will interview and advise clients who have been referred by Community Legal Aid Services, Inc. All client contact will be by telephone. If interested, you must attend a training on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. The clinic will follow from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The training, and clinic, will be in person. Volunteer for “Boo at the Zoo” (community service/limited means)

The Akron Zoo seeks volunteers for Boo at the Zoo on the following dates:

Saturdays, October 16th, 23rd, 30th

Sundays October 17th, 24th, 31st

Boo at the Akron Zoo is a non-scary trick or treat experience for all ages that runs Saturdays and Sundays from     10:30 -7:00pm. Treaters will have a candy passport allowing them to collect candy at each station. Volunteers staff each treat station and are paired with a zoo volunteer (EdZOOcator). The zoo needs approximately 24 volunteers for each of the three shifts to staff the event. Three shifts are available: 10:00-1:15, 1:00-4:15, and 4:00-7:00 You may sign up for more than one shift per day.

Inmate Assistance Program student position

Inmate Assistance Program

Seeking student to work in the Inmate Assistance Program paid position, up to 20 hours per week. Typically, students will travel to Summit County jail once a week, every week, to meet with inmates who have legal questions, and research and draft letters back to the inmates.  All students attend at the same time, while the day of the week changes due to class schedules.  Interested students should be available to attend the jail Friday morning during fall semesters.  Students interested in developing interviewing, research, and writing skills should apply. Our clinic graduates use their skills in civil and criminal contexts as Public Defenders, County Prosecutors, Legal Aid lawyers, judicial law clerks, and civil practitioners.  Students must be willing to commit to the program for one year.  Interviews will be conducted via Zoom.  Employment is contingent on passing a background check with the Sheriff’s Department.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court’s Pro Bono Collaborative needs volunteers on Friday, August 20th from 8:30-11:30 am.
