The Summit Legal Defender’s Office is seeking volunteer law students to assist with various cases and tasks at the office, including assisting the Legal Defenders with reviewing body camera footage. This will offer great experience and exposure to the field of criminal law. No intern certificate is required. The position will transition into a part time position during the following 3L school year. This position will encompass mostly legal research and writing, but will also provide a unique opportunity work closely with a diverse group of attorneys and practice groups, including both litigation and transactional. MLCL is looking for a person with an extroverted personality, strong writing skills, and the ability to handle a myriad of legal issues.  McCarthy, Lebit is also looking for candidates with CPA, tax, and accounting experience.  CPA/Tax/Accounting is preferred but not required.

Beachwood, OH – 2018 Summer Associate – Cleveland Clinic

AkronLawJobs No. 8994 Overview: The Law Department of the Cleveland Clinic is now accepting applications for its 2018 Summer Associate Program. The Law Department is staffed by approximately 30 lawyers and an additional 50 support personnel and is located on the Beachwood Campus. Students will have an opportunity to work with Attorneys on a wide variety of matters that affect the legal interests of this international health referral center.

Areas of Study:The Summer Associates are required to complete a prescribed regimen of hands-on activities in all of the major areas of practice. The Summer Associates are also given the opportunity to attend various hospital committee meetings.

Practice areas will include: medical malpractice, risk management, hospital regulations and standards, clinical research, medical education, commercial transactions, real property, tax-exempt organizations, fraud and abuse, Stark, managed care contracting, conflicts of interest, labor and employment, and corporate compliance.

Qualifications: 2L. Prefer interest in pursuing a career in the healthcare field.
