Cleveland Clinic Summer Associate Program (2Ls)

AkronLawJobs No. 8994 Overview: The Law Department of the Cleveland Clinic is now accepting applications for its 2018 Summer Associate Program. The Law Department is staffed by approximately 30 lawyers and an additional 50 support personnel and is located on the Beachwood Campus. Students will have an opportunity to work with Attorneys on a wide variety of matters that affect the legal interests of this international health referral center.

Areas of Study: The Summer Associates are required to complete a prescribed regimen of hands-on activities in all of the major areas of practice. The Summer Associates are also given the opportunity to attend various hospital committee meetings.

Practice areas will include: medical malpractice, risk management, hospital regulations and standards, clinical research, medical education, commercial transactions, real property, tax-exempt organizations, fraud and abuse, Stark, managed care contracting, conflicts of interest, labor and employment, and corporate compliance.

Qualifications: 2L. Prefer interest in pursuing a career in the healthcare field.

Research & Writing Position Spring Semester, 2018

Volunteer Research Assistants/Writers (RA/W) are needed for a book project on tort law. The RA/W will assist in the research and writing for the annual supplement (“Pocket Parts”) for BALDWIN’S OHIO PRACTICE: TORT LAW 2D (West), the only treatise on Ohio tort law in existence. Each participant will
gain knowledge and experience by thoroughly dissecting recent developments in Ohio tort law, while being guided and directed by the Author in a friendly (ie: Non-Socratic) mentorship. This is an excellent opportunity develop knowledge, skills and expertise.
As in past years, 6-8 students from across the state of Ohio will be selected for this project. Students who are interested in tort law, willing to work hard and eager to set themselves apart from their peers (and their competitors in the job market) are encouraged to apply. The project will run from the beginning of January through June, and the positions will be part-time (on average, about 10 hours/week or less).
These are “cyber-commute” positions and students from across the state are encouraged to apply, regardless of location.
This project is available to satisfy your pro bono general hours (up to 25 hours).
