Akron, OH – Law Clerk – City of Akron Law Department

Law Clerk – City of Akron Prosecutor’s Office:

Prepares legal arguments including established precedents in cases involving the City of Akron.  Does legal research and prepares legal briefs.  Locates and interviews witnesses.  Files required legal documents with the governmental agency involved in the court action.  Obtains necessary documents from involved agency as required for proper, adequate court action.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an accredited law school and must possess a Legal Intern Certificate or be eligible to obtain it (59 or more law school credits; rising 3Ls )

Knowledge of interrelationships of government agencies.

Ability to present concise logical arguments orally and in writing.

Law Clerks are requested to work 28 hours per week and specified working hours for the Prosecutor’s Office are below:

Monday         12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Tuesday         8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Wednesday   8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Thursday       8:00 am – 4:30 pm

This schedule can be flexible! Candidates must meet the qualifications and requirements listed in the announcement at the time of examination and at the time of appointment.

Student Assistant Position – Admissions Office

The Akron Law Admissions Office is seeking a law student to work in the Admissions Office as a student assistant for 8-10 hours per week, preferably on Wednesdays and Fridays, but we can be flexible. Duties include giving building tours to prospective students, assembling admitted student packets for mailing, communicating with prospective students via email and phone, overseeing the Student Ambassador program, and other duties as assigned by members of the Admissions team. Must be friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic about Akron Law. The position pays $8.50 per hour. Free tickets to the Akron Bar Association Annual Meeting

The Akron Bar Association has donated 4 free tickets for 4 law students to attend the Annual Meeting, Thursday, June 24th from 5:00 – 7:00PM at The Piggery at Anna Dean’s farm (outdoors). This event will include food trucks, networking, and outdoor fun!
