AkronLawJobs:  7827  Overview:  The Law Department of the Cleveland Clinic Health System is staffed by approximately 30 lawyers and an additional 50 support personnel.  The Law Department is located on the Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus in Beachwood, Ohio, an upscale Cleveland suburb.  The attorneys practice law in a wide variety of practice areas including medical malpractice, risk management, hospital law, medical staff, clinical research, medical education, commercial transactions, real property, tax-exempt organizations, fraud and abuse, management care contracting, labor and employment, and corporate compliance.

Duties will include completing a prescribed regimen of hands-on activities in all of the major areas of practice.  The summer associates are also given the opportunity to attend various hospital committee meetings.

Qualifications:  2L, Preference is given to students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the health care field. An indication of your GPA and ranking should be noted on your resume.

Duties: Research and review of patent applications; Brief management officials on technology content; Will devise search strategies; Will draft non-final office actions; Will conduct prior art searches; Will propose an engineering position based on findings; and Will formulate a written legal position dealing with a range of issues from intellectual property to drafting positions on petitions decisions.

Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National; Must be enrolled in law school and have an undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or general sciences; Must be in good academic standing; Must work well in a team environment; Must have a working knowledge of computer applications such as Word and Excel; and Must have excellent writing, reading, and interpersonal skills.
