AkronLawJobs No. 10015 Overview: Looking for a part-time law clerk to assist in our state-wide civil litigation practice. The law clerk would support the litigation attorneys by assembling and organizing information for legal documents, researching the law, assembling case materials, and writing reports and memoranda. There may be an opportunity for increased hours during the Summer and a continued part-time position during the 2019-2020 school year.

Duties: Legal research (Westlaw experience is preferred); Prepares legal drafts, including complaints, discovery requests, responses, motions, and other pleadings; Prepares for trial by preparing trial briefs, exhibits, subpoenas, evidence, and motions; Assist paralegals and attorneys in locating files and organizing, copying, and maintaining documents; and Protects law firm’s reputation by keeping client information confidential.

Qualifications: 1L, 2L Excellent research and writing skills (Knowledge of Westlaw is a plus). Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize.

Cleveland, OH – Summer 2019 Seasonal Court Intern – Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas

AkronLawJobs No. 10012 Overview: This is a temporary unclassified position held at the pleasure of the Court. This position is FULL-TIME for a MINIMUM of 8 weeks.  

Duties: Typing correspondence, memos, documents, reports, and forms; Performing other data entry tasks, as assigned; Recording pertinent information relating to case histories or individuals (e.g. entering journal entries into Court docket); Performing administrative, procedural and functional duties relevant to the assigned department and task; Performing a variety of other related duties as required (e.g., filing, scanning, answering telephones).

Qualifications: 1L or 2L; Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, Court employees, attorneys, outside agencies and the public; Ability to learn and understand Court functions and procedures; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and work with the custom software utilized within the various departments and the Court; Proficiency in typing and data entry skills; Ability to operate various office machines (e.g., personal computers, copy machines, fax machines); Competency in spelling, reading, and simple math and understanding and following instructions; Attention to detail and accuracy; Effective time management, reliability, and punctuality; Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information; Professional appearance and demeanor.

Salary: $11.60 per hour
