LAWYER REFERRAL AND INFORMATION SERVICE
The Lawyer Referral and Information Service Program connects the public with pre-screened attorneys in the legal specialization needed to fill the needs of potential clients.

The Intern’s role is to assist the LRIS Director by speaking directly with clients via the telephone, conducting intake interviews and recommending attorneys with the appropriate legal experience to resolve the clients’ legal needs. The Intern will also provide administrative assistant support to the LRIS Director as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Answers the telephone and conducts client intake
 Maintains files of referral updates
 Administration of end of the month reports
 Confirms liability insurance coverage for all LRIS members
 Researches online court dockets for unreported referred cases

The Student Intern will work ten (10) hours per week and will receive a $1,500 stipend at the conclusion of the internship. The Internship is for the Fall 2018 semester (Through December 7) and the incumbent can be reappointed for subsequent semesters. The ideal candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to deal with clients of all demeanors. Knowledge of the Windows operating environment, Microsoft Office, and general database usage is required.

Description: This position is split between two solo attorneys – a general practitioner (no criminal or divorce) in Tallmadge and the other is a CH 7 Trustee and Receiver in Medina, so it would be varied experiences in general civil practice law offices. Both offices are working offices and all employees do everything.

Qualifications: 2L or 3L. Polite and kind to clients, callers, and court officers; Must have good grammar, good writing skills, professional telephone skills, good mental reservation, plus some filing in and out of the office.
