The purpose of this internship is to assist with UARF’s direct legal tasks, like licensing, patent strategy and research contracts, as well as assisting UARF affiliated startup companies with both legal and business strategy needs. Ideal candidate is a joint JD/MBA student or a JD student interested in business and helping startup companies. Open to 1Ls and 2Ls.

Hours: Begins this summer and may continue into fall;15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule

Pay Rate: $12.50 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in negotiating license agreements and research contracts
  • Participate in discussions regarding patent filings and associated strategy
  • Assist with UA’s patent docket, which may include administrative tasks, like scanning, filing and tracking patent deadlines
  • Support UARF affiliated startups in their legal needs, which may include drafting corporate documents, employment documents, and non-disclosure agreements, and performing trademark searching and provisional patent drafting
  • Support UARF affiliated startups in their business needs, which may include market research, competitive analysis, basic IP searching, developing customer lists, and providing candid feedback under the direction of UARF’s startup advisors
  • Provide support for UARF’s incubator and accelerator programs, including I-Corps

Akron, Ohio – Expedited Pardon Clinic – The University of Akron School of Law Legal Clinic

AkronLawJobs. No. 12590: The legal clinic seeks a paid student to work in the Expedited Pardon Project. The student must commit to up to 10 hours per week. The student would be responsible for providing administrative support to the project including the initial processing of cases. The student must be willing to work, at a minimum, three semesters: Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022.
