CLOTHING DRIVE-1Shirt: Make A Difference

This week, April 15th-April 19th, the University of Akron will be competing with hundreds of universities across the country to see who can collect the most clothing to benefit local charities and job training programs. This innovative contest is known as 1Shirt.

The 1Shirt competition provides us with an excellent opportunity to support a charitable organization, as well as, reuse materials before they are eventually discarded.

The University of Akron’s involvement and expected strong performance in the 1Shirt campaign will help solidify our commitment to improved recycling and sustainability.

What Can I Do?
• Clean out your closet.
• Collect and Drop-Off your gently-used clothing and textiles into one of ten designated drop-off bins.
• Visit, http://www.uakron.edu/pfoc/recycling.dot, for more information about this and other recycling events.

LAW STUDENTS: You can deliver your items to the School of Law Dean’s Office! Planet Aid will accept any new or gently used textile based recyclable, including: clothing, footwear, purses, quilts, blankets, pillows, belts, etc…

Parking – Saturday 9/29/12

Parking Services has notified us that Lot 34 outside West Hall will still be available this Saturday, although it will not be sectioned off as it usually is on Game Days. Typically, one half of the lot is reserved for students/faculty and the other is for paying users attending the game. Due to the Akron Marathon and a home game taking place on the same day, they will not have enough cones to section of the lot this Saturday.

  • Lot 34 still available for parking this Saturday.
  • You will not have to pay to park if you have your valid parking permit displayed.
  • Explain to the lot attendant that you are here for school, not for the game.
