IPTLA and all law students at the University of Akron are invited to attend a Q&A session with the IP Advisory Council. On September 13, 2010 at 2:00pm in room 152 the IP Advisory Council will make themselves available for open discussion and networking. This is a great opportunity for you to meet and mingle with IP professionals from all over the United States. BLSA Golf Outing – Friday, September 10, 5 pm
BLSA will sponsor a golf outing at Mud Run Golf Course (2000 S. Hawkins Avenue in West Akron) on September 10, 2010, at 5 pm. Cost is $20 for 9 holes of golf; a golf cart, and food and drinks at the end of the match. Each participant will be paired randomly with a practicing attorney or a law student. The lowest COMBINED team score will win the Golf Tournament Prize. There will also be multiple individual competitions throughout the course where the winner will also receive a prize. SBA will hold its first general meetings of the year on Sept. 9 at 12:15 pm and 5:30 pm in W-206. All are welcome. Food will be provided.
Moot Court Tryouts – Saturday, Sept. 11, 9 am
Students with a status of 2D/2E or higher are invited to tryout for this year’s Moot Court Society! Tryouts will be held Saturday September 11, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to about 3:00 p.m. in Room L-165. For the tryout, you will need to prepare a 10-minute oral argument using a closed problem that will be distributed on September 4, 2010. Send an email to Emily Bates at emb56@zips.uakron.edu to schedule a tryout time. We strongly suggest you sign up for a spot by September 4th! Anyone who wants to sign up after September 4th will be scheduled depending on what spaces are available. For more information on Moot Court, join us Tuesday September 7th at 12:30 in Room L-165. The Moot Court Honor Society will present a panel of members who participated on an external moot court competition team last year. These participants will discuss their experiences with the external competitions, including preparation and actual competition. There will also be ample time for questions about participating on a moot court competition team. Lunch will be served at this event and all students interested in Moot Court are welcome to attend.
ILS – General Meeting – Sept. 8, 12:15 pm
The first meeting of Fall 2010 for the International Law Society will be held on Sept. 8 at 12:15 pm in W-206. We plan to discuss upcoming events, speakers and our trip to the International Law Student Association conference in NYC this October! We will also hold an officer election at this meeting in order to fill the position of Vice President for the organization. Food will be provided, hope to see you there!
