IPTLA – Large Firm Lifestyle with Professor Bob Kahrl – 9/8/10, 5 pm

IPTLA will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 5:00pm in room W-210. The presenter will be Professor Bob Kahrl. Professor Kahrl will be speaking on Life in a Large Firm and How to Make it in a Large Firm Setting. Professor Kahrl currently teaches Complex Commercial Litigation and Patent Claim Construction. Professor Kahrl practiced law at Jones Day in Cleveland from September 1976 until Dec. 31, 2009, when he retired from the partnership. From 1991 to 2008 he served as practice leader of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Area. During that period the IP Practice expanded from 45 lawyers in five domestic offices to 260 lawyers in thirteen domestic offices and ten overseas offices. He specialized in litigation of cases involving issues of technological complexity. The principal technologies in which he worked were in the fields of semiconductors, electronic systems, and medical devices. Cases in which his appearances have been a matter of public record include the largest patent-related litigation ever conducted before the International Trade Commission involving ten patents for various aspects of DRAM chips (In re Certain Dynamic Random Access Memories). All are welcome and encouraged to come. Food will be provided.

Moot Court Honor Society External Competition Team Member Panel – Sept. 7, 12:30

On September 7 at 12:30 in room L-165, The Moot Court Honor Society will present a panel of members who participated on an external moot court competition team last year. These participants will discuss their experiences with the external competitions, including preparation and actual competition. There will also be ample time for questions about participating on a moot court competition team. The purpose of this panel discussion is to provide returning moot court honor society members with information about external competitions, and also to provide information to any 2Ls considering trying out for moot court. The discussion is open to all law students interested in finding out more about moot court!
