Interested in IP Law? Keep reading!

This message is posted on behalf of Andy Maas, President of the Akron Intellectual Property and Technology Law Association.

Hello! My name is Andy Maas and I am the President of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Association (IPTLA) here at the University of Akron. We are in the process of setting up a great year of speakers and activities for both the day and evening students. We have 4 or 5 presenters for the lunch time slot and 4 or 5 presenters for the evening time slots for the fall semester alone. In order to make this year as successful as possible we are trying to get an accurate contact list for anyone and everyone that is interested in intellectual property law and we would like for you to be a member of IPTLA. As such we have created an online form for you to fill out so that we know who you are and how to contact you. Please go to http://bit.ly/dzMqz7 to fill out the form.

In order to be a member of IPTLA you do not need a technical degree. In fact, many great IP attorneys do not have a technical degree and they can still be involved in patent litigation, copyright work, trademark work, trade secret work, right of publicity work, etc.

Additional valuable resources that are available include the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association (CIPLA) and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). We hope to take a group of students to the AIPLA National Convention in Washington D.C. in the middle of October (we would love for you to join us, so please let us know who you are). Also, we plan on taking groups up to the CIPLA meetings which are held each month. This is an opportunity to network with local professionals with a great meal (at the Ritz) and an interesting presentation.

Here are some important links for everyone to know about:

To Join AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association) click HERE. Info is HERE.

All of these are great networking tools and I highly suggest all of them.

Let me know if you have any questions. Our first meeting is planned for September 1 at 12:15pm in room W-214 and food will be provided.

Thanks,

Andy
