BLSA Snack-and-Study: Monday, Oct. 17, 5:15

Dear Students,

The next BLSA Snack-and-Study will be Monday, October 17 at 5:15 in Central Hower Room 305. We will cover Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, and Contracts. We realize that 1Ls may attend the mandatory Career Services meeting during that time, so we will cover the upper-division subjects first in order to make sure 1Ls can get their questions answered. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend! Refreshments will be provided.

Barrister’s Ball, Oct. 21: Buy Your Tickets Online!

You can now purchase your Barrister’s tickets online: https://commerce.cashnet.com/LAWORG.

Because this online method allows everyone to easily purchase tickets, we will no longer have SBA reps tabling. Ticket sales will be open until Thursday, October 20.  As a reminder, Barrister’s Ball is Friday, October 21, 2016 from 7 PM – 11 PM at The Tangier (532 W. Market St. Akron, OH 44303). All students, faculty, staff, and guests are welcome! See our flyer below for more information and e-mail hkm8@zips.uakron.edu with any questions.

2017 ABA Client Counseling Competition–Sign Up Now!

We invite all Akron Law students to compete in the 2017 ABA Client Counseling Competition, which will be on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Teams of two conduct an initial interview with a fictional client and address the client’s legal (and non-legal) needs. The teams must, among other things, build a relationship with the client, determine the client’s goals, and consider options available to the client.

This competition is open to all Akron Law students (including 1Ls). Find a partner and sign up today!

Teams can sign up at the front desk of the administrative suite in the law building or online here: 2017 Client Counseling Sign-Up (URL is https://akron.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6nAFbUbmUbDlJm5).

There will also be an information session with President Wilson on Tuesday, November 22nd at 5:15 in Law 140. Come learn more about the competition from President Wilson and learn about the invaluable skills and fantastic time that this competition offers–not to mention the possibility of having President Wilson coach your team.

Winners of the local competition on January 14 will advance to the ABA Regional Competition in February. If you have questions, please contact Dean Fuller.
