US Army JAG Corps On-Campus Interviews — Resume Submission Deadline Tomorrow!

SPRING ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEW – A representative from the U.S. Army JAG Corps will be conducting on-campus interviews on Friday, February 19, 2010.  They will be interviewing 1L applicants for summer internships and 3L applicants for active duty accessions.  Please submit a resume to the Career Planning Office no later than Friday, February 12, 2010 at 3 p.m.*  So far, we have only received one resume for this on-campus interview. You are missing out on a great opportunity!!!

 

* We anticipate that representatives from the U.S. Armed Forces will be participating in on-campus interviews.  Please be advised that the Armed Forces’ “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy toward homosexuality constitutes discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.  The Armed Forces’ position is contrary to the School of Law policy, but State law requires that we permit the Armed Forces to recruit on campus.  The following is the School of Law’s Nondiscrimination Policy, adopted and effective 2/14/02.

Chris Nolan from Perantinides & Nolan and Jack Weisensell from Bernlohr Wertz will talk about effective resumes and what firms look for when they hire law clerks and new attorneys.

This is a great opportunity for students to hear directly from employers what they should and shouldn’t include on their resumes and how to make themselves stand out from the crowd.

Students who attend either session will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Applebee’s Gift Card.

Copies of our new Career Planning handbook will also be available for students at this workshop.

National Labor Relations Board, Cleveland, OH

 

Seeking applications from second year full time and third year evening students only. The Cleveland office of the NLRB seeks a law student for a full-time summer intern position. The NLRB can be flexible on the start and end dates. Rate of pay TBD. Duties include legal research and writing as well as investigating unfair labor practice charges. The intern may also work on representation cases. If there is a trial in the office while the intern is there, the intern would also have the opportunity to sit on the trial. They also hold hearings on issues that arise in representation cases. The Career Planning Office is pleased to welcome Anneliese Gryta, Akron Law alum, Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow, attorney with Legal Aid of Western Ohio and expert on the CCRAA. Ms. Gryta  will be at the Law School to discuss  the benefits of CCRAA. Come hear her talk and learn about Income Based Repayment (allows students to link federal student loan payments to their income level) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (complete loan forgiveness of federal student loans after 10 years of full time employment in a public service job).
