Two tickets left for this Friday’s Women in Law Fashion Show

The University of Akron School of Law Office of External Programs has purchased a table for ten to the Second Annual Women in Law Fashion Show, hosted by the Women in Law Section of the Akron Bar Association. The fashion show, featuring professional dress for men and women, including vintage designs, will be held this Friday, November 11, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Portage Country Club.

We have two free tickets remaining for this great event. If you would like one of these tickets, please e-mail Jeanne Kennedy in the CPPO at jeanne2@uakron.edu ASAP. The first two students to e-mail Ms. Kennedy will receive the tickets.  The subject line of your e-mail should be Women in Law Fashion Show.

This event is sure to be a night of fun and fashion!

Law and Leadership Institute seeks to hire law student

The Law and Leadership Institute seeks a law student to teach eleventh grade students. The Law and Leadership Institute introduces promising high school students from under-served urban communities in Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo to the legal profession through an intensive college preparatory program on law and leadership. The student hired would join a law student currently teaching in the program. You must be available to teach on the following dates: January 26, 2012 (4:00-6:30 p.m.), January 27, 2012 (4:00-6:30 p.m.), February 2, 2012 (4:00-6:30 p.m.), February 3, 2012 (4:00-6:30 p.m.), February 11, 2011, February 18, 2011, March 3, 2011, March 24, 2011 and March 31, 2011.  The compensation is $115.00 per class. If you are interested in applying for the position, please e-mail a cover letter, resume and writing sample to Professor Joann Sahl, jsahl1@uakron.edu. Your cover letter should detail any teaching experience or experience working with at-risk youth. Applications are due by Monday, November 21, 2011. Judicial Intern Opportunity Program for minority and economically disadvantaged law students – further info in CPPO

Judicial Intern Opportunity Program: The American Bar Association Section of Litigation is pleased to announce its Summer 2012 Judicial Intern Opportunity Program. The program is a full-time, six week minimum summer internship program open to all first or second year minority and/or economically disadvantaged law students. Applications for second year students are currently being accepted, and applications for first year students will be accepted beginning December 1st. The deadline to apply for the Program is January 6, 2012. Selected students will be given an opportunity to intern for six or more weeks during the summer with a participating state or federal judge. Lake Erie Monsters Hockey Game – Complimentary Ticket from CPPO!

The CPPO invites you to join your fellow law students and cheer on the Lake Erie Monsters as they take on the San Antonio Rampage next Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. It’s student ID night at the game and students from throughout NE Ohio will be there!  All law students will receive a complimentary ticket in their mailboxes today! Watch for yours!
