Law Association for Women’s 2021-2022 Board

Law Association for Women has concluded another successful year of sisterhood through networking, volunteerism and fundraising, and educational and members events. This year alone, we raised over $1,900 for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, featured 6 guest speakers, and hosted multiple volunteer events and member meetings.

Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition

Mercer University School of Law and the American Bar Association Commission on Disability Right will co-host an annual brief writing competition in honor of Mercer’s former legal writing professor, Adam Milani. The purposes of the competition are to promote greater interest in and understanding of the field of disability law and to encourage excellent legal writing skills in law students. The deadline for submission is June 11, 2021. 
 
First Prize will range between $300 and $1,000 

Briefs can be on any of the following topics:
Disability law; The Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; Age Discrimination in Employment Act; Family and Medical Leave Act; A state statute or municipal ordinance prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
