The Student Bar Association is seeking your support for our annual Kick-It for the Cure event. KICK IT: Vacate Children’s Cancer will be held on September 19th, 2015 at 3 p.m. at The University of Akron’s Softball field (Lee Jackson). This year we have the pleasure of potentially hosting law students from both Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and Case Western Reserve University School of Law, so our expectations for this year’s event are HIGH.

We need your help to make our event a big success. We are requesting your time, donations, and participation at this year’s event. Every single donation is greatly appreciated! Additionally, this is the first year that Kick It falls on the same day as Akron Law Cares; thus we are looking forward to a great turn out and an amazing day of Akron Law Giving! More information on how to help will be disseminated at our first general body(s) meeting next Tuesday Sept 8th at 12:15 and 5:15 p.m. in room w-214.”

We will be discussing this upcoming Fall’s events, how YOU can get involved, and how First Year Students (1L’s) can run for elected Student Bar Association positions. SALDF will hold its new member meetings tomorrow, Sept. 2, from 12:15-1:15 in Room 167 and again from 5:30-6:30 in Room 206. Come learn about all the fun and exciting things we have planned for this year and bring your ideas for things to do in the future. Food will most likely be provided.

SBA is getting the word out about the Second Annual Akron Bar Association Fantasy Football League! Last year, 5 law students took advantage of this fun opportunity to network with lawyers in the Akron legal community, and one of them even won! This year, we want to get more students involved, and continue the “law student dominance” in the league. It’s a really easy, fun, and inexpensive way, to meet and connect with Attorneys in the area. So what are you waiting for?

It’s quite simple actual! The Draft will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at the Akron Bar Association (57 S Broadway St, Akron, OH 44308). There is an entry fee of only $10 for student members of the ABA, and a $20 fee for nonstudent members. The Akron Bar Association will provide Food and Drinks and all you have to do is RSVP by September 1st, 2015, with Thomas Petropoulos, Member Engagement Coordinator, at either 330-436-0106, thomasp@akronbar.org, or by clicking the registration link on the ABA’s website.

*RSVP’s are needed to determine the quantity of food and drinks and to determine the amount of staffing needed to facilitate the draft. There are limited spaces, so just on this wonderful opportunity as quickly as possible

“Akron Law’s nationally ranked trial team is seeking witnesses for it’s upcoming shakedown competition. If you are interested in being a member of Akron Law’s trial team, this is a fantastic way to see what the team is about and what the team can turn you into.

Witnesses will be needed Saturday September 5th at 8:30 AM at the Akron Municipal Courthouse (217 S. High St., Akron, OH) until approximately 3:00 P.M. Volunteer hours are available for people who volunteer as witnesses! Bring a volunteer hour form with you and one of the coaches will sign it for you.
