Public Interest Auction – Saturday, March 7th

There is still time to reserve a spot at this year’s Public Interest Auction! The event will feature both a live and silent auction including over 60 items including Cavs and Indians tickets, golf outings, review sessions with professors, and delicious home-cooked meals made by your professors!

Every penny of the Auction proceeds is used to fund the Public Interest Stipend which benefits students who serve in non-profit and governmental positions during the summer. Each student who wishes to receive distributions from the fund MUST attend the Auction (though don’t worry, you don’t need to win anything to qualify!)

The Auction is being held on the 5th Floor of the InfoCision Stadium Press Tower THIS SATURDAY (March 7) at 6pm. Lights hors d’oeurves, desserts, and a cash bar will be provided. Pre-sale tickets are available through Friday in the student lounge and will be available at the door on the day of the event. Cash, credit, and check are accepted.

We hope to see you there!

ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition

Dear Colleagues,

This weekend, six students represented the University of Akron School of Law at the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition regional in Boston Massachusetts. Justin Burns, Kait Crowder, Andrew Ledebur, Lyndsey Lee, Christopher Rice and Chris Uzunyan each performed well in the preliminary rounds. The Burns/Lee/Rice team advanced from the preliminary rounds and competed in several challenging post-preliminary rounds. I am delighted to tell you that they were one of the four winning teams in the regional competition, and will now advance to the National competition in Chicago, Illinois in April.

Please join me in congratulating the team members and their coaches, Professor Joann Sahl and Attorney Paul Zindle. We thank them for all their hard work to date and wish Justin, Lyndsey and Chris every success as they compete in the nationals!
