For Spirit Week, the Sports and Entertainment Law Society is sponsoring a flag football tournament at Shrank Turf Field on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
Sign-ups for the tournament will be held in the student lounge on the following dates and times:
• Monday, Sept. 15 from 3:00-6:00
• Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 10:30-12:30
• Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 12:30-3:30 and 4:00-6:00
• Thursday, Sept. 18 from 4:00-6:00
• Friday, Sept. 19 from 12:30-3:30
• If you are unable to sign up during any of these times, please email Lindsie Everett (lae21@zips.uakron.edu) to register your team.
Check-in on Sunday, September 21 will begin at 4:30 pm, and games will begin at 5:00 pm.
• Teams will consist of 7 players.
• Must have at least 1 person of the opposite sex on your team.
• Rules will be provided when you register your team.
• Teams will register under their year in law school (ex. 1L, 2L, 3L). The team that wins the tournament will receive a trophy.

16TH Annual Law Student Closing Argument Competition – WIN SCHOLARSHIP MONEY!!!!!
It’s that time of year again, and we are excited to announce the 16th Annual Law Student Closing Argument Competition. Attached please find a flier we would like you to immediately distribute to your 2nd and 3rd year law students who are interested in competing in a competition scheduled to take place Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Cuyahoga County Courthouse.

The event is sponsored by the Landskroner Foundation for Children, a child advocacy organization, which attempts to advance and protect the rights of children, further children’s issues and promote the good and welfare of children in need or at risk.
We are offering law students from your institution the opportunity to take part in our competition.
There are monetary scholarships for the top three place finishers, $750, $500, and $200 respectively.

Please join us for guided meditation sessions every Monday and Thursday this fall starting from Aug 28 through Dec 04 from 12:30-01:00 pm in Student Union Meeting Room 310 or Student Union Ballroom C 303 (only on Sept.09, Sept.25, Oct.09, Oct.16, Nov.06, Nov.13).
All faculty, staff and students are welcome. No prior training is required.

Tryouts for Akron Law’s Moot Court Appellate Advocacy teams will be held on September 12th and 13th in room L-165. If you’re interested in trying out, please email Monica Dobson at mll71@zips.uakron.edu. The deadline to request a tryout spot is Wednesday, September 10th. An informational meeting will be held during the week on September 2. Please monitor the announcements for information about this meeting.
