LAW – Giving Tree

The Law Association for Women is hosting a Giving Tree for the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit County.  The tree has several ornaments with the names of domestic violence survivors who could use a helping hand this holiday. Get into the true meaning of the holiday spirit by helping a person in need.

If you are interested, please take an ornament off the tree located in the Student Lounge.

Donations can be dropped off  until 5pm on December 14, 2012.

L.A.W. General Fall Wrap-Up Meeting

Join the Law Association for Women on Tuesday, November 20th at 12:15pm in Room W-214 for a wrap of the fall semester.
During our meeting we will review our fall events including info on our upcoming holiday giving tree drive, setting a date for a holiday wine & cheese party and gift exchange. We will also preview our spring speaker, a national sexual assault trainer of judges and prosecuting attorneys and discuss elections in for February. We will also be recruiting members who might want to serve as officers next year to get involved in the planning of next semester’s events.

Coffee and snacks will be provided.

Immigration Brutality TODAY in Room W-214 from 12-1PM

Please join the ACLU TODAY at the University of Akron School of Law in a riveting presentation entitled “Immigration Brutality”. Attorney Farhad Sethna will be the guest speaker for the event. Come find out about problems that immigrants in America face and get all your questions about immigration answered. This event will be held TODAY in Room W-214 from 12-1PM.  Please still feel free to come late, if your class does not release until 12:15.

Join the Federalist Society Thursday, Oct. 25 at 12:30 in L-151. The event focuses around environmentalism and is titled “Conservation without Regulation: Property-based Environmental Protection”.  Jonathan Adler, writer for the Volokh Conspiracy and Dr. Ira Saskowsky from the University of Akron will be discussing the concept. FREE LUNCH PROVIDED BY A WOK. (that’s the restaurant, not the cooking pan)
