CQE Clinic Volunteer Training – Friday, July 17, 4:30 pm

Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is Saturday, July 18th!  We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 9:15a-12:45p on June 13th.  The clinic will be held at the House of the Lord, 1650 Diagonal Rd. Akron, OH 44320. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a volunteer training on Friday, July 17th, 4:30-6:00pm at the law school. The time you’re at training will count toward your pro bono limited means hours as well.

If you’re interested in volunteering or have any questions, please e-mail Sarah at smw87@zips.uakron.edu.  You can also learn more about the clinic at our website: http://www.uakron.edu/law/clinical/cqe-clinic.dot.

New Class Ranking Policy

In response to your feedback, we modified and simplified the class ranking policy to assure you receive rankings expeditiously at the end of each Fall and Spring semester. We value the importance rankings play for each of you and hope this version simplifies reporting to employers. We eliminated the Option A and Option B ranking system. The new system ranks students based upon their status as full-time or part-time students and their entering class year (see below for full details). We will continue to rank you after each Fall and Spring semester. The new ranking policy is effective immediately.  Please contact me at ikw1@uakron.edu with any questions.

Thank you,

Assistant Dean Banks

Class Rankings

The School of Law calculates individual class rankings after the end of the fall and spring semesters. We rank students based upon their entering class year (e.g., 2015, 2016) and their enrollment division (e.g., full- or part-time). Students changing division (e.g., part-time to full-time) will be ranked with the new division at the end of the semester in which the classification goes into effect.

Students taking summer classes are not issued a new class rank in August.

Grades processed after semester rankings post (e.g. grades from previous Incompletes) will be included in the following semester’s class rankings.

Students are ranked with their entering class unless their projected graduation date changes due to a leave of absence or significant reduction in credit load. Any student who takes a leave of absence for one academic year will not be ranked during that year.

Akron Law ranks transfer students based upon the year the student entered the transferring law school.

Graduating Class Final Rankings

Each May, Akron Law merges all graduating students (both full-time and part-time divisions) into a final combined class rank. We also merge students graduating at the end of the preceding fall semester into this final combined ranking.
