Scholarly Writing And Research 10 For Your GWR

Students –

On Wednesday, October 2, from 12:15 – 1:15pm and 5:15-6:15pm, please join Sarah Starnes as she gives you details about your GWR requirement.  This will include basics on how to begin to pick a topic, how to research it, how to prevent preemption, and how to format it, including what it should look like and how to create and utilize footnotes.

Pizza and drinks will be provided.

Barristers

Hopefully you were able to attend the baseball game with SBA, and if not hopefully you heard that there was a relatively nice size turn out of both faculty and students. This is the goal of SBA this year – more inclusion! We are currently planning this year’s Barrister’s Ball and have heard from part-time, evening, and trial team members that Saturday night works best for these groups. We would like to set a date that is not too close to midterms and finals weeks. We are also aware that if Barrister’s was moved to the Spring semester, it would rob those graduating in December 2019 a chance to attend. So with that in mind, an early November Saturday evening seems to be the best date for the greatest turnout.

Also, we are aware that the Hilton in Fairlawn (the location of Barrister’s last year) was far for some people. We have vetted Akron venues and found that Tangier’s is in our price range and is closer to downtown Akron. We spoke with Tangier’s and they know we ran out of food a few years ago there so this shouldn’t be an issue again.
