Ohiolink Service Pause and Delivery Company Change

Because of issues with Ohiolink deliveries, Ohiolink is changing back to the delivery company they used prior to July 2021. As part of the transition process back to the prior delivery company, there will be a pause in Ohiolink delivery services.

  • Between now and March 10, please request any needed items as early as possible because we anticipate that there will be delays. Akron Law librarians would be very happy to discuss your needs and help you look for alternate formats or other ways to secure materials, such as using Inter-Library Loan, which does not rely on this intrastate delivery service.
  • From March 11 through the end of spring term, you will not be able to request material through the OhioLINK Central Catalog. This is necessary to avoid a backlog of materials in the system during the transition.

Please contact the library with any questions, at ualawlibrary@uakron.edu, (330) 972-7330 (circ desk).

Audio Study Aids

Do you have a long commute? Want to learn law while you exercise or do other things? Or are you an auditory learner? If any of these describe you, you might be interested in these audio study aids:

West Academic Audio study aids – Click on Content Type and pick Audio or Audio Lectures. There are audio lectures (Law School Legends Series), audio books (Short and Happy Guides), audio case briefs (High Court Case Summaries) and short explanations of concepts (Office Hours). If you are off campus, use the link in this post or on the Law Databases page. When off campus you log in with your UANet ID and password.

Aspen Learning Library – “In Other Words” audio series explain particular concepts in law subject areas. Once you log in with your UANet ID (the part before the @ in your email address), You will see a link for Audio – about the middle of the page, to the left.

Law Database Name Changes

Meta (Facebook) isn’t the only one doing some rebranding. Wolters Kluwer Online Study Aid Library is now known as Aspen Learning Library. It still contains all your favorite study aids, such as Emanuel Law Outlines and Casenote Legal Briefs. And you can still sign in with your “library card number”, which is your UANet ID.

The Cheetah research database is now called Vital Law. Vital Law has primary and secondary sources for Food and Drug Law, Health Care, Intellectual Property and many other subject areas.
