The American Association for Justice (AAJ) Announces Scholarships

The Richard D. Hailey Scholarship: AAJ’s Minority Caucus will award $5,000 scholarships to African American, Hispanic, Asian American, Native American, and Biracial Law Student Members who are entering their first, second, or third year of law school. This scholarship is awarded to applicants who best represent criteria including the following: interest and proficiency in trial advocacy skills; desire to represent victims; commitment to AAJ and its mission by involvement in an AAJ law student chapter and Minority Caucus activities; and financial need. The winner must attend the AAJ Annual Convention in Montreal, Canada in July, 2015 in order to accept the scholarship. Travel and accommodation will be provided, but please note that all international travel requires a passport.

The Trial Advocacy Scholarship is open to all AAJ Law Student Members who are entering their second and third year of law school. This $3,000 scholarship is awarded to the applicant who best demonstrates the following: commitment to AAJ and its mission; a desire to represent victims; interest and skill in trial advocacy; and financial need.

The Leesfield Scholarship is sponsored by AAJ and AAJ member Ira Leesfield. This scholarship awards $2,500 to a Law Student Member to subsidize attendance at AAJ’s Annual Convention. Available to first- and second-year AAJ Law Student Members.

The Mike Eidson Scholarship awards $5,000 annually to a female student entering her third year of law school (the student can be enrolled in a three-year day program or four-year night program) who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized. The winner must attend the AAJ Annual Convention in Montreal, Canada on July 12, 2015 in order to accept the scholarship. Travel and accommodation will be provided, but please note that all international travel requires a passport.

All scholarship applications are due May 1, 2015.

With the exception of the Mike Eidson Scholarship, applicants must be AAJ Law Student Members to qualify for the scholarships. Law students can join AAJ at the rate of $15 for one year. Student membership applications can be found here.

The 2016 Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship Application Is Now Available!

Application deadline is June 19, 2015.

Baker Donelson is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where the individual differences among us are understood, respected, appreciated, and recognized as sources of strength of the Firm. These qualities enrich the environment in which we work. With this in mind, Baker Donelson will again award three scholarships to diverse law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2015. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2016 in one of our Firm’s offices. Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000 which will be paid prior to the student’s third year of law school to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.

Erie County Bar Foundation Announces Scholarship Opportunity

The Chief Justice Samuel J. Roberts Scholarship Fund annually provides a scholarship to a first year law school student who is a resident of Erie, Pa attending an ABA approved law school. If grades are maintained, the student is eligible for renewal of the scholarship for his or her second and third years.

2015-2016 Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship

The Law Firm of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. Offers $1,000 Scholarship

Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A., is accepting applications now through June 5, 2015, for its “Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship” which will award up to $1,000 to one or more students currently enrolled and attending law school, accredited by the American Bar Association. The purpose of the Samuel Krugliak scholarship is to assist law students who exemplify the Firm’s ethic and who intend to practice law in the communities served by Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A.

Students may apply for the 2015-2016 academic year scholarship provided they have resided in one of the following counties during their lifetime: Stark, Wayne, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Summit, Holmes, Mahoning or Columbiana. Candidates must also possess strong academic credentials, participate in extracurricular activities, and have a desire to return to the region to practice law.
