Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a science, technology or engineering field, and be enthusiastic and committed to Hahn Loeser’s standards of excellent client service. Advanced degrees and prior work experience are a plus, but not required. The candidate will work full-time during the school’s summer recess (including participation in the firm’s 10-week summer program which runs from late May through July), and, upon a successful summer performance, will work part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) during the following school year. Continued employment through the candidate’s 2L summer and 3L academic year is also possible for the right candidate based on performance and the practice area’s needs. Spring 2011 Research & Writing Position

 Volunteer Research Assistants/Writers (RA/W) are needed for a book project on tort law.  Students who are interested in tort law, willing to work hard and eager to set themselves apart from their peers (and their competitors in the job market) are encouraged to apply.  The project will run the balance of the semester and the positions will be part-time.   These are “cyber-commute” positions and students from across the state are encouraged to apply, regardless of location. 

 The RA/W will assist in the research for the annual supplement (“Pocket Parts”) for Baldwin’s Ohio Practice: Tort Law 2d (West).   Each participant will gain knowledge and experience by thoroughly dissecting recent developments in Ohio tort law, while being guided and directed by the Author in a friendly (ie: Non-Socratic) mentorship.  This is an excellent opportunity develop knowledge, skills and expertise.

 The project will culminate in the publication of the 2011 Pocket Parts for the only treatise on Ohio tort law in existence.

Under general supervision; assists in legal research, drafts briefs, motions, conviction relief and other related documentation; performs miscellaneous duties (filing, copying, etc.). Performs other related duties as required.

The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.

Drafts legal brief, memoranda, pleadings, motions, etc.; responds to post conviction motions for presentation to court; drafts case summaries and reports; assists attorneys in preparing discovery actions; prepares stipulations, including information to polygraph examinations.

Performs legal research; review and analyze laws, regulations, court decisions and legal issues for the prosecutors, etc.; verifies accuracy of documentation (legal) as directed

Assists other clerical employees in the performance of their tasks (e.g., filing, copying documents, docketing, etc.) as workload dictates or as directed.

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.

Mininum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and current attendance at an accredited law school.
