As announced in The Career Connection, the Career Planning Office is collecting resumes for an Akron law firm that is searching for a 2D/3E/3D/4E law student to work part-time as a law clerk. Duties include legal reserach, filing, assisting with discovery and writing. The firm requested that we not publish the name of the employer. Submit resume and cover letter to the Career Planning Office by 5:00 p.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

Now, we’d like you to communicate to us what we can do to best help you. It’s a difficult job market right now; we’ll get better results if we work together.

 The Career Planning Office will be hosting an open forum to get your constructive suggestions on what we can do to better serve you. This brainstorming session with Asst. Dean Meg Matejkovic and Career Planning Director, Barbara Weinzierl will be held on Thursday, October 1 at 12:15 and 5:15 in the West Hall Student Lounge area. At least come for the ice cream! If you prefer to offer your ideas in private and not in a public forum, our door is always open. Please stop by the Career Planning Office any time.

Student Health Law Conference

Third Annual Student Health Law Conference – Hosted by Seton Hall University Ethics (ASLME) in Newark, New Jersey on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This conference which is attended by law students throughout the country, seeks to expose law students to the myriad career paths for attorneys in health and life sciences. The conference provides an introductory session on health law, panels on a variety of employment opportunities and health law, and a networking reception with conference speakers. The $35 registration fee includes student meals. Topics covered include:  Networking with Potential Employers, Hear about Nontraditional Jobs for Health Lawyers, Discover What Health Lawyers Do, Learn How to Contact Prospective Employers, and Get Guidance on How to Start Your Own Firm.
