APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR STUDENT FELLOWS for the CENTER FOR CONSTITUTIONAL LAW at AKRON

Applications are now being accepted for the Con Law student fellowships.  Fellows work with the director of the Center for Constitutional Law at Akron, Prof. Tracy Thomas, on research, programming, and public education.  Projects include, but are not limited to, research for scholarly books and articles (both legal and historical archival work), leadership of student discussion forums, developing content for social media, and working with community partners. More information about the work of the Center generally is available on the website at https://www.uakron.edu/law/ccl/

Fellows are expected to devote five hours per week to the work of the Con Law Center for the entirety of the school year. Research work for the Center will be compensated, while the other work for the Center of public education and programming is volunteered as part of the fellowship experience. The Con Law Center will select three students to serve as fellows in the next academic year.  Interested students should send a current resume and letter with an explanation of interest in the con law fellowship to Professor Tracy Thomas at thomast@uakron.edu by March 31, 2017.

Of related interest in the future, Professor Brant Lee will also be selecting Social Justice fellows to work with him under the umbrella of the Social Justice Project. This is a separate program and a separate application process from the con law fellowships, and interested applicants should contact Prof. Lee directly at btlee@uakron.edu.  Students would not be able to do both the con law and the social justice fellowships due to the demands of each position.

2017 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program – registration closes Friday!

To: All Law Students Returning For Fall Semester 2017
Loyola University Chicago School of law is hosting the 2017 Patent Law Interview Program on Thursday and Friday, August 3-4 in Chicago, Illinois. This is a nationwide interview program that targets patent law employers, rising 2L and 3L students, and students in Intellectual Property LLM programs.
Last year roughly 150 employers, 190 law schools, and 1,200 law students from across the country participated in the program. The program is entirely pre-selected, which means that students submit resumes and transcripts to bid on interviews with the employers they are interested in, and employers then review the materials of the students who bid on them and select the students they wish to interview at the program. Last year, approximately half of the participating students were selected for interviews.
Students with undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering or a technical science should consider registering for the program. You do not need to be patent bar eligible to register, although the vast majority of employers participating in the program are seeking patent bar eligible students.
For more information on the program, please refer to the Loyola Patent Program website at: http://www.luc.edu/law/career/patent_students.html.
Online student registration for this year’s Patent Law Interview Program began on Monday, February 6 and close on Friday, March 10. Online registration is now open at https://patentlawregistration.luc.edu/lawstudents/. At this stage of registration, you will only need to enter some basic information (you will upload your resume and bid on interviews later in the semester). Please note that our school is listed alphabetically as The University of Akron on the registration form’s drop down menu of law schools.
The School of Law will be paying the $35 registration fee for our students, so you will not be charged anything when you register online. Once you have registered, the program staff will communicate with you directly via email to the address that you entered when registering for the program. Please direct any questions about the program to Maureen Davis, mdavis1@uakron.edu, Patent Program Liaison.
