AkronLawJobs No. 6229 Overview: The University of Akron School of Law Legal Clinic will have three to four paid positions open for the summer and next year until May 2016. The paid positions are as Directors of our Inmate Assistance Programs. Students eligible for a legal intern certificate may be able to participate in the Turning Point/Summit County Court of Common Pleas Felony Drug Court Program and provide courtroom advocacy and representation to Turning Point participants. All students are invited to apply, including first year students. Persons chosen for these positions will be paid $8.50 per hour up to 20 hours per week. Students must take credit courses during the summer to qualify for employment.
Qualifications: All students are invited to apply, including first year students. People interested in developing interviewing, research, and writing skills should apply. Our Clinic graduates use their skills in civil and criminal contexts as Public Defenders, County Prosecutors, Legal Aid lawyers, judicial law clerks, and civil practitioners.

Government and Public Interest Fair TODAY!
ALL students are invited to attend our annual Government and Public Interest Fair Tuesday, March 10th!
12:00 – 1:30 PM AND 5:00 – 6:30 PM in the Law School Atrium
Over 20 government agencies and public interest organizations will be represented. Come and meet them and learn about internships, careers, and volunteer opportunities.

Akron Bar Foundation Fellowship – Applications due Friday, March 13th!
Akron Bar Foundation Fellowship
The Career Planning Office is excited to announce that the Akron Bar Foundation has created a fellowship to fund first and second year law students with a stipend while the student(s) is performing a summer clerkship with a not-for-profit, public interest or government position. The ABF Fellowship is available to any University of Akron Law School student completing their first or second year (full-time program) or second and third year (part-time program) curriculum. Recipients must commit to working in the position for at least 25 hours per week for a period of not less than ten (10) weeks, starting the third week of May. Students must arrange for work in a not-for-profit, public interest or government position prior to submitting an application. To apply, students must submit an application to the Career Planning Office by 12 noon on Friday, March 13. The application that is submitted must include: (i) a completed and signed Fellowship Program application form (available in the CPPO); (ii) law and graduate school (if applicable) transcripts (official copy, if possible), honors and awards; (iii) a current resume; (iv) a personal statement; (v) a statement from the employer confirming employment and the anticipated dates of employment; and (vi) such other information as requested. The application also may include letters of recommendation. Up to five applicants for the ABF Fellowship will be chosen for a personal interview to be conducted by select members of the Akron Bar Foundation. The number of ABF fellowships awarded and the amount awarded will be determined by the Akron Bar Foundation, but the amount of an individual award shall not be less than $2,500.
