LEGAL CLINIC ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR PAID POSITION – deadline is January 31st by 5:00 PM

The University of Akron School of Law Legal Clinic is hiring for a paid position open for Spring semester 2014 and Summer 2014. The paid position is for a Director of our Inmate Assistance Program and as a staff member for the Appellate Review Office. This position is open to all 2L or 3 L full time or evening students. The person chosen for this position will be paid $8.00 per hour up to 20 hours per week during the school year and 25 hours per week during the summer.  Students must take credit courses during the summer to qualify for employment.

People interested in developing interviewing, research, and writing skills should apply.  Our Clinic graduates use their skills in civil and criminal contexts as Public Defenders, County Prosecutors, Legal Aid lawyers, judicial law clerks, and civil practitioners.

LSAC DIVERSITY INITIATIVES – PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIP

LSAC DIVERSITY INITIATIVES – SUMMER INTERN 2014

Applications are being accepted for a summer internship with the Diversity Initiatives staff at the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).  The summer intern works under the supervision of the Executive Director for Diversity Initiatives.   The intern will assist with LSAC Diversity Initiatives including but not limited to the DiscoverLaw.org website, DiscoverLaw.org Prelaw Undergraduate Scholar Programs, and LSAC Law School Forums.  The intern will be expected to prepare memos and written assignments, answer inquiries from prospective students, and assist with other projects as assigned.   Some travel will be required.   The duration of the position is 10 to 12 weeks.

Qualifications:

The summer internship is restricted to currently enrolled law students in good academic standing.  Preference will be given to candidates with strong communication skills including familiarity with social media.  We are seeking applicants who share LSAC’s commitment to promoting diversity in the legal profession.

Compensation:

The intern will be expected to work a 37.5-hour week and the compensation will be $22.00 per hour.  The intern will work at the LSAC headquarters in Newtown, PA, and housing assistance will be provided, if needed.

Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics – open to all students – deadline is January 6th.

FASPE

(Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics) is now accepting applications for a fellowship that uses the conduct of lawyers and judges in Nazi Germany as a launching point for an intensive two-week early summer program about contemporary legal ethics. Applications from all law students, regardless of what field of law they are interested in, are sought.

Fellowships include an all-expense paid trip from New York to Berlin, Krakow, and Oświęcim (Auschwitz) where students will work with leading faculty to explore both legal history and the ethical issues facing lawyers today. All program costs, including international and European travel, lodging, and food, are covered.

 

The 2014 program for FASPE Law will run from May 25 to June 5.

 

Completed applications must be received by January 6, 2014. Candidates of all religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
