Career Planning & Placement Office announces 2013 Lawyer to Law Student Mentor Program for all 2014 grads
Attention all Second Year Law Students (those graduating in 2014): Would you like the opportunity to get a glimpse into the practice of law and begin to build your professional NETWORK? The Office of Career Planning & Placement, in conjunction with The Akron Bar Association Liaison Committee, invites you to participate in the Lawyer to Law Student Mentor Program. This program pairs second year University of Akron Law students with local lawyers for the purposes of assisting law students in beginning the transition from law school to law practice, through a one-on-one relationship with practicing attorneys.
To participate in the 2013 Lawyer-to-Law Student Mentoring Program:
1- you must attend one of the MANDATORY Mentor Program Training Sessions: Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 12:20 OR Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 5:15.
2- You must turn in a Mentor Program application, including the short answer questions, to the Career Planning Office by Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 12 noon. Mentor Program applications are available in the CPPO and online at https://www.uakron.edu/law/career/docs/2012-13-Mentee-Application.pdf. All students will be notified of their assigned mentor by Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

Summit County Legal Defenders Office seeks law student volunteers – great experience
AkronLawJobs Job No. 3902 – The Summit County Legal Defenders Office Juvenile Law Program is seeking second or third year law students who are interested in acquiring required pro bono hours or a great learning experience. Volunteers will interview juvenile detainees and their parents, assist the assigned public defender, and sit in on detention hearings. Opportunities are available Monday through Friday. Students are expected to be at the Juvenile Center on Dan Street in Akron at 6:45 am and stay till roughly 9 am. Those interested should email Dan Doverspike at dld13@zips.uakron.edu. Deadline: ASAP.
