Hahn, Loeser & Parks LLP, a full-service law firm established in 1920 and having offices in Ohio, Florida, Illinois, and California, is seeking a 1L law clerk candidate for its multi-faceted and diverse Intellectual Property area for Summer 2019 in the Cleveland office.  With an excitement for learning and eagerness for involvement, candidates must possess an undergraduate bachelor’s degree that is Patent Bar eligible with one of the following backgrounds: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, physics, or materials science.  The candidate will work full time during the summer on a variety of projects, and may have the possibility of working part time (approximately 15-20 hours per week) during the 2019-20 school year.  Please send a one-page cover letter, resume, and updated law school transcript to Jodi L. In some intern opportunities, the following may apply:
Performs various activities related to functional area projects including, but not limited to, researching, evaluating, and testing; planning and executing small projects, and conducting research and testing as a part of larger project teams. Develops processes and programs to support the functional area.

Duties: Supports and plans work on small projects with direction from management. Assists management and other department personnel to support larger projects (e.g., managing project schedule and status reporting). May assume the duties normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles. Works with various departments and/or vendors to gather information needed for various projects. Presents project results to management and/or department personnel. Performs analytical work within the assigned functional area. Conducts research using the internet and other sources of information. Creates or updates systems or databases for specific department needs.

In some intern opportunities, the following may apply: Prepare either preliminary architectural and civil drawings for a facility site, building, and office layouts, or system level material handling drawings using AutoCAD software.

Minimum Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University law program. Must have completed your 1L year by the time you begin the internship.

Required Skills: Software skills, including the use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications. Knowledge of AutoCAD software may be required for some positions. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management. Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals. Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
