Mobile Apps for Law Students

Lynn Lenart, from the Law Library, will be giving short presentations on mobile apps for law students during the week of April 4th through April 7th.  If you are interested in learning about some useful apps, then plan on attending one of the presentations.

What: We will cover 10 apps in 30 minutes.  I will summarize the pros and cons of each app.  We will move quickly through the apps and if time permits, students can share some of their favorite apps.   Plus, I will have an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard available for law students to try out.

Level: Introductory.  This talk is for the novice user or law students who are considering upgrading to a smart phone.

When and Where:  Same session is offered multiple times, so just plan on attending one session.

Food for Fines starts Monday!

Did you return a book a little late? Forgot what time your laptop was due? Your chance to pay off those charges and help a good cause is here! Starting March 7 and running through March 28 the University Libraries and the Law Library will be sponsoring their semiannual Food for Fines drive for the Akron-Canton Food Bank.

You can bring in non-perishable food items to pay for your fines. Two food items equal one dollar toward your fines and there is no limit on the number of items you may bring in. This offer cannot be used to pay for billed or lost books.  Food may be dropped off at the Law Library Circulation Desk.

The food goes to the Akron-Canton Food Bank for their Harvest for Hunger Campaign.

2 nonperishable food items = 1 dollar credit

The Super Six most needed items are boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned beef stew and canned soup.  Here is a list of more items that are the most needed.

Keep your profiles up-to-date on Westlaw and LexisNexis

At least once-a-year law students should update their profiles on LexisNexis and Westlaw.  Especially check your e-mail address and make sure it is the correct address.   The faculty may use the e-mail function in TWEN or Lexis Web Course to send e-mail to their students, but if your address is not correct you will not receive the e-mail.

Here is how you can update your profile on Westlaw and Lexis.

For Westlaw: Log into Westlaw http://lawschool.westlaw.com/desktopdefault.aspx and on the left side of the page next to your name is the UPDATE link.  Click on that link to update your profile.

For LexisNexis: Log into LexisNexis http://www.lexisnexis.com/lawschool/ and click on the HELP tab.  At the next screen, click on UPDATE REGISTRATION INFORMATION.
