Service Opportunity – Jr. Leadership Akron, October 15

Junior Leadership Akron is seeking a law student to assist with a program being held on campus on Tuesday, October 15. The student would be responsible for meeting a group of high school students at the Honors Common at 12:15 pm, walking them to the law school, and conducting a brief tour of the building.

Service Opportunity – Thursday 9/26, 6-7 PM

Maplewood Career Center in Ravenna, OH (about 30 minutes east of Akron) is seeking several law students to speak to high school students entering their Legal Academy this year. The intent of the panel is to address life as a law student, as well as your educational and professional history leading up to law school.

The panel will run from 6-7 pm on Thursday, September 26.

Landskroner Foundation for Children 15th Annual Law Student Closing Argument Competition – Thursday, October 24th

It’s that time of year again, and we are excited to announce the 15th Annual Law Student Closing Argument  competition!

Open to 2nd and 3rd year law students from Ohio law schools who will give
a 15 minute closing argument in a civil case for the plaintiff, a
catastrophically injured child. Argument will be on damages only.
Fact pattern, exhibits, and demonstrative evidence will be furnished.
National and local team of judges, including experienced trial lawyers with
over 20 years of experience, media personalities, judicial officials, and
child advocates.
The top three students will receive cash scholarship awards of $750 for
1st place, $500 for second place and $200 for third place. All
participants are invited to attend a reception to follow at the law offices of
Landskroner · Grieco · Merriman, LLC located in Cleveland’s warehouse
district.
Although all participants are invited to attend the entire evening of
competition, it is only necessary to be present 30 minutes in advance of
the pre-assigned time for argument.

together for the senior living in Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority apartments and we need your help!

Earn community service of limited means hours!

Activities will include “hands-on” work of assisting senior residents with cleaning and organization needs of their

units, as well as joining senior residents for fun social activities. Bring your family and friends!

All participants will receive lunch and an “Akron Law CARES” t-shirt.

Two law students are needed to assist with registration for the National Pro Bono Free Legal Clinic. The clinic will be held at the Job Center, 1050 Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio, on October 10, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteers must arrive at 9:30 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
