Davis Levin Livingston Law School Scholarship Available – Deadline is July 1

Davis Levin Livingston, a Hawaii law firm, announces its first law school scholarship. They are offering a $3000 scholarship for the upcoming fall semester to a law student who intends to practice public interest law.

The recipient must be a current law school student, or has been accepted to attend law school this fall. Recipients must fill out and submit the application by July 1st, 2014.

OACTA 2014 Law Student Diversity Scholarships Available – Deadline is 4/18

OACTA’s annual Law Student Diversity Scholarship program is open to incoming second and third-year African American, Hispanic, Asian, Pan Asian and Native American students enrolled at Ohio law schools. Incoming second and third-year female law students enrolled at Ohio law schools are also eligible regardless of race or ethnicity.  Other criteria for the scholarship include:

• Academic achievement in law school;

• Professional interest in civil defense practice; and

• Service to community and to the cause of diversity;

Up to two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1,250 each will be awarded to successful applicants.  Applicants are required to submit an application, law school transcript and a cover letter addressing the following:  academic, personal and professional accomplishments, and why they should be selected as a recipient of the scholarship.  Applicants may submit up to three letters of recommendation.

The completed application and all other requested material must be received by April 18, 2014.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Winners will be announced in June 2014.  Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the OACTA Annual Meeting in November.

DRI Law Student Diversity Scholarship Application Due March 31

The deadline for receiving applications for DRI’s 2014 Law Student Diversity Scholarships is March 31st. These scholarships are open to 1) all rising second- and third-year African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American law students; 2) all second- and third-year female law students, regardless of race or ethnicity; 3) any other rising second- and third-year students who come from backgrounds that would add to the cause of diversity, regardless of race or gender. On behalf of the Women Trial Lawyers Caucus of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), it is my great pleasure to send you the application for the AAJ Women for Justice Education Fund’s 2014 Mike Eidson Scholarship.

The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund was established by the AAJ Women Trial Lawyers Caucus in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it. The Scholarship, traditionally given in the amount of $5,000, is awarded annually to a rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a plaintiffs’ lawyer or criminal defense lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.

The application deadline is May 1, 2014 and the Scholarship will be awarded at the AAJ Annual Convention, which will take place this year on July 27, 2014 in Baltimore.

2014 Mike Eidson Scholarship Application

Akron Bar Foundation Scholarship – Deadline is Friday, April 5

The Akron Bar Foundation is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Akron Bar Foundation provides scholarships to law students based on grade point average, affiliation with SummitCounty, history of community involvement, and financial need. Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, April 5, 2014.  Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered for an award. Qualified applicants will be contacted to arrange for an interview, which will take place at the end of April.
